Mechanical Systems Services: Portable Turbine Generator Installation
VALUE DELIVERED
The flexibility and timely responsiveness required to allocate power generation to areas of greatest need and, thereby, effectively meet changing consumer requirements.
MECHANICAL SERVICES SCOPE OF WORK
UMEC (AZ) furnished and installed a fully portable five megawatt gas-fired turbine generator. Mounted on trailers, the generator can be easily disassembled, transported, and reassembled at another site where additional power is needed.
UTILITY FACILITY BACKGROUND
The Salt River Project (SRP) is one of Arizona's largest utilities. To handle the power crisis in western United States, an aggressive, multi-faceted action plan has been developed to avoid power shortages and sudden price increases.
MECHANICAL CONSTRUCTION OBJECTIVES
To provide mechanical services for a prototype portable generator installation at the client's Agua Fria generating station.
MECHANICAL SYSTEMS SOLUTIONS
Since SRP personnel had never used a portable generator, UMEC (AZ) experts teamed with them to fine-tune the portability process and resolve any complications. Thanks to this involvement, installing or moving similar units in the future will be a smooth, efficient process.
